Last year after Christmas I gave my tree to my granny and thought I would buy a tree after the holidays , you know
really cheap to put up for the next year. Well,
I didn't do that! So this year we decided to buy a real tree. I was a little apprehensive like I am with most things that are "
foreign" to me, for example, trick or treating door to door this year. I didn't want to do it, but I ended up having so much fun and the kids had the best time!
So my sweet husband
gently reminds me this and reassures me a real tree is the way to go! So off we went today to find the
perfect Christmas tree! We had planned to wait another week at least. I'm afraid that the ornaments are going to be too much for little Griffin. Right now he likes to throw anything that resembles a ball. Can you imagine what he is going to do with a tree full of balls?
Exactly...But at the last minute we suprised the children and off we went! They were so excited. You could see the
twinkle in their eyes!

We arrived at the farm 20 minutes later to find everyone else had the same idea! It was busy, but we quickly jumped on the next hayride out to find our
perfect tree! The kids really enjoyed the hayride! Remember...we *heart* hayrides!
So the nice man driving the tractor let us out in a field of trees. Oh my so many trees. Where do we start? We walk up and down the rows. We see one that looks good, but didn't want to settle with the first one. So I suggested that we remember it and look just a bit longer. So we do, but then decide to go back for the first. Ok great idea...which one was the first one? When we finally decided that we had found it someone else was stacking it out...soon I heard the sound of a saw and then the words "timber" followed! So off we went to find another
perfect tree. A
perfect tree we did find! And let me say, when we saw it I heard the choir sing "
Hallelujah" and a bright light shone down from heaven. It is
beautiful, all 9 ft of it!

I settled the boys on the ground with snacks. This is the only way I could make sure Griff stayed in one spot, gave Alli the camera and did my part in cutting down the tree. The part of pushing it while Jason sawed away! Easy as pie!
Soon
we were yelling "
timber"! Our
perfect tree was down and ready for the hayride back!
The hayride we had to wait on for a good bit because remember everyone else had the same idea!

So the kids watched as the men attached our tree to the little thingy that shakes the loose needles out of the tree and then stuffs the tree through the netting for it's ride home!

I'm not sure who enjoyed this more the kids or daddy?
We had a great time. There was a nice fire with roasted peanuts. Hot chocolate and snacks for sale. A swing and little tractor to play on! We had a great evening. I can see this becoming a new tradition at our house! We loved it! We all voted on the way home! Well, everyone but Griffin, but I know he would have raised his hand too if he had of known exactly what we were voting on!
Can't wait to hear what your favorite traditions are! Please share them with me! Merry Christmas everyone!
