That's going to leave a mark!

This morning while I was getting ready for church, Griffin got up on his big boy bed, fell into the metal rails and got this huge egg on his forehead. I have never, in my 9 years of mothering, had a child with an egg this size on their forehead. It looked fake at first...
I'm so thankful that it didn't cut it open, cause by the looks of it we were very close to making a trip to the ER.
Can you see in the above picture how he looks like he has a horn growing?
But as you can see from the photo above, it certainly hasn't slowed him down!

I was home alone with the kids when it happened. I called J's parents to get over here and then I called my next door neighbor to come help. It really scared me and it didn't help that the older 2 were screaming in fear also! He's fine. Gave him a little tylenol, juice, snacks and a cartoon and he was good in 30 minutes or so!

FYI...the big boy bed is coming down. I just can't take the risk of that happening again. Poor guy!

At Mothers...

Walker, Mother, Alli and a very uncooperative Griffin!
Griffin and Uncle Mike. Mike put this doily on G's head and G would spin and just laugh. He then would be so dizzy he couldn't stand up. He was a character tonight.
The "Fohawk" guys. Hannah made them each have a"fohawk". Even Griffin got one, but his looked more like a fish fin. It was very long.

Dirt roads, wooden bridges and old churches...yum-o!

We made a spur of the moment trip to Tenaha to visit Jason's grandmother "Mother" and his aunt, uncle and cousins Kim and Stacie. For dinner we drove over to Center and ate at the big DQ, Mother's favorite eatery. After dinner we took the long way home and boy was it so worth it! Absolutely beautiful scenery and absolutely peaceful! I'd love to own a cabin way out there to visit on weekends. It was so pretty...
We drove upon the this old, old church and cemetary. It had wasp flying all around it which kept me from getting a good picture of the kids and Mother in front of it. But as soon as it cools off we are heading back for those pictures. I could have spent hours just walking around there if I hadn't of had to use the little girls room.
We happened upon a family of 5 deer. This one must of been the Mama...she froze like this until minutes later he 3 babies who where all stair stepped in age came running out of the bushes and on to safety. Sweet, sweet!
I'm going to put the rest of my Tenaha pictures in my online album. Feel free to look! It was a good day!

Food, Swimming and Friends

This evening we spent with our old friends. Jason and Dusty graduated together. We all got married within months of each other. Then later we all had kiddos close together. I say close...our babies are several years apart, but that is because they had 2 in 12 months which was way to close for me!

I think if G could have stayed in the water longer (he had to be removed due to diaper looking like it was about to explode) Dusty would have had him swimming. He was already putting his face in and trying to blow bubbles, or was he trying to get a drink...either way it was cute!
My son Walker...God love him, decided to wear a life jacket...is this how you wear it at your house?
He's going to love me one day for this picture!

The many faces of Walker...

This afternoon I wanted to practice taking pictures and Walker is the only one willing to play along with me. Some turned out too orangey for my liking, some too...something I can't put my finger on it and one or two perfect for me. All you good amature photographers be nice and don't point out how imperfect my "perfect" are! Actually, bring it on, I'm ready and willing to learn!

This little guy has had a busy week in kindergarten and is flat worn out! I am also pretty sure someone has his first crush. And if you are reading this Alli Keeling Holt don't you dare say a word to him about it...he is very sensitive about this subject. It really is very cute to listen to him talk about his new, actually he knew her before kindergarten, friend named Kaycee. Apparently during dance and wiggle time he wiggles his booty and she laughs because she thinks he is funny! They've also played in centers together and draw pictures for each other. He came home yesterday and emptied his backpack full of "his special things". He wouldn't let us see them. He took them straight to his room and hid them and then later straight to the trash can and dumped them. I found them and they are now in a very special place for me to have for always! They are ALL from Kaycee.

Thank goodness, for Walker's sake, it is Friday and tomorrow he can sleep in. He has begged all week to sleep in. Let's hope and pray he catches up on his much needed sleep and is ready for another week on Tuesday. If not...it's going to be another fun week!

Bathtime playtime

Posted by Picasa

Yum, that was good...

Griffin had a messy breakfast, so this called for an early morning bath! He likes to turn on the cold water (luckily he hasn't discovered the hot water knob yet) so today we turned it on and let it run. As you can see below he had the best time! I looked at him at one time and his little jaw was quivering...time to get out!

He would get a drink and laugh just like this everytime! Funny boy!

His interpretation...

Walker wore this home from school yesterday...when he got into the car I said, "What does your necklace say?"

He says, "Thank goodness I didn't die the first day of school!"

Not reading yet...

Today when Walker got in the car he announces, "We didn't learn to read today."
I said, "You didn't?"
"Nope I guess it'll be another day."
He really thought he was going to be able to pick up a book and start reading today. He is sooooo ready to start learning everything. He also said, (I'm going to try and type in his words), "I was good yesterday, but even goodin today!" He says the teacher told him that. He said, "I remembered not to run! Mommy you were right!" I told him yesterday that everyday he would get better and better at remembering and apparently now he believes me! But let me tell you...this kindergarten thing is wearing him out! He was soooo tired and whiny tonight that we put him to bed early! He has also eaten everything in sight since getting home at 1 p.m.

Alli is loving her class and teacher. I asked her today what they did and she said, "We went to a funeral!"
"A what?"
"We buried I CAN'T today"

So far so good! I'm not sure how school is wearing Griffin out, but wow was he a bear tonight. He got send to bed early as well!

So I'm off this the thing to watch Big Brother! Anyone else watch it? I think right now I am cheering for Dan. He might be the smartest player on the show, except this week I'm not sure what he was thinking...hopefully it'll work out for him!

Words from Walker...

W: Tomorrow we are learning to read!
M: Really? Did you ask the teacher that?
W: Yes, I asked when are we learning to read and she said tomorrow!

M&D: What was your favorite part about school?
W: ...recess!

D: Who did you eat next to at lunch?
W: Some kids I didn't know...
D: You'll know their names soon!

First day of school...

First day of school!
Today was the day! The first day of kindergarten for Walker and the first day of 4th grade for Miss Alli. I can not believe she is in 4th grade already. Man how time flies...
We didn't go to Alli's meet the teacher event on Friday since we were in Galveston. So this morning was our meet the teacher. She was very sweet and nice just like Walker's little teacher. Walker's room is decorated in Mickey Mouse (which he just loves) and Alli's room was decorated in a cowboy theme...how appropriate was that! Just another sign that this is going to be a great year!
Walker gets out early all week this week. I guess they ease the K into school. I'd love for him to get out early everyday honestly! So I am looking forward to hearing about his first day! I'm sure he's going to love it!

As for me, I did pretty good. Walking into the school down the hall to his class I almost cried and I had to suck it up fast because Walker would have probably cried then. But I was a big girl and didn't cry until I saw another friend crying and that did it! But now that I am home and Griffin is in bed taking his first nap...I am GOOD! So I'm going to end this post and start cleaning quickly while little man is fast asleep! I hope all of you with children starting to school today had a smooth morning and your children have wonderful stories to tell you when they get home! Have a great day!

Galveston slide show

Hey everyone! If you click on the box with arrows coming out of all 4 corners it will open it to full screen so you can see ALL the pictures. I noticed in several you couldn't see the full photo! Enjoy!

Our weekend at Galveston...

Here are just a few pictures we took on the beach in Galveston. Their beaches aren't white, sandy beaches, but the kids had fun. I will post more tomorrow about our trip and let you know what happened to Walker. But for now enjoy these!

Meet the teacher!

On Thursday, Walker got to meet his teacher. We are all so excited about the year. His teacher seemed sooooo sweet and had the sweetest tone in her voice! We've also heard WONDERFUL things about her and are looking forward to learning so much. And as Walker would say...learning to read! I think we have an eager beaver on our hands!
