Making snow ice cream

Did you do this as a child? You know...collect snow and make snow ice cream?

Well my mom always did! And I remember it being soooo good! And so a few weeks ago when we got all that pretty snow Alli collected some in a bowl for me and we froze it. And while my Granny was here we had her make us some! Cause you know it always taste better when Granny makes it!

The kids watched patiently.
And then gobbled it up!

And then asked for more!
We saved half the snow so Daddy could make some with us one day!

Safe or Not?

I'm going to say...

NOT....

But I'm sure they would disagree!

I'm also not sure how comfortable it is!

Prayer request

If you are reading this today, please stop and take a minute and say a prayer for my childhood friend and her family. One year ago today she said goodbye to her infant son Hank. And almost lost his twin sister, but she survived and is still hanging in there! I can't imagine how she is feeling right now. But I also do not want to know that feeling. Please, please, please say a prayer. I know she would really appreciate it!

Thank you!

Gabs from Griffin

This morning we told Griffin it was supposed to snow today! He said, "Again!" And I said, "Yes and what do we do in the snow?" And he replied, "Eat it!"

Looks like he's going to be eating his way thru it again!

Words from Walker

Baseball season is here! And we {heart} baseball in this household! Jason took Walker a few days ago to the Academy and let him pick out his new bat and new glove. This year he has moved up to the 7&8 group and they hit off a pitching machine. This move is a little intimidating for me and I'm not playing. I just have heard stories about how competitive it is. And all I can think is, "They are 7&8?!" And I've already written about my competitive nature on her before. I'm competitive in some areas but sports was never one of them. I want my children to have fun in whatever they do and confident! And confident is exactly what my Walker has right now in baseball and I love it.

So as I said Jason took Walker to get his new equipment. And on Saturday he went to the yearly baseball clinic here. So when he got home I was asking him tons of questions. What did you do? How did you hit (off the pitching machine)? How did you field the ball?

And he answered them and then informed me, "This bat is loaded with home-runs!" As he shakes the bat at me!

"Really?"

"Who told you that?"

"No one!"

He cracks me up. And I'm just so thankful he is confident and loving it, cause that is all that matters! He tried out last night and we should hear soon what team he will be on...praying we have a good, sweet coach...is that OK...to pray for a "sweet" coach? :-)

churning

I've been a "single" mom since Thursday evening. I can't imagine how you single moms do it full time. I'm worn out!

While I'm single parenting it (until tomorrow) my granny is staying with me. We are enjoying her. And I think she is enjoying us!

Today we had a very busy day. Alli had a 9 am basketball game. Walker had a 11:3o basketball game. And then Walker had a baseball clinic from 2-4 (thankfully my fil helped me out and took Walker to baseball).

So after a busy day and a much needed nap, we took the kids out to eat and then to Bealls! Exciting! I know! While eating Granny ran into an old friend who was out celebrating her 81st birthday today. They were chatting and catching up and telling old stories. I was listening catching bits and pieces. I heard her friend say my mom was "churning" that time in the back yard........

And I thought, churning...wow there's a word you don't hear anymore. I wonder what my grandchildren/greatgrandchildren will hear me saying and think the exact same thing?

Churning.....made me wonder!

Happy Birthday My Sweet Jack Walker!

Feb. 12, 2003 we were blessed with our first son! A precious son that I did not know we needed! I really thought he was going to be an Avery Kathryn, but instead the doctor announced, "It's a boy!!!!" And my first thought was, "What am I going to do with a boy?" BOY am I glad you were a Jack Walker! You are such a blessing to us! Thank you for being you! You are so sweet, sensitive and caring and I wouldn't have it any other way...well maybe minus the whining :)

(There was a small problem getting the cookie cake home)

Friday we woke up to a beautiful blanket of snow! What a wonderful birthday surprise! 7 inches of snow on your 7th birthday and NO SCHOOL!!!
PERFECT-O!

We had already taken him to Great Wolf Lodge 2 wks earlier, but I still wanted him to have a few of his classmates/school friends over.
So on Friday we had them over for cookie cake and a scavenger hunt.

(Walker and Aaron)

Let me tell you...that scavenger hunt was a HUGE success! I was actually very surprised!
Those kids loved getting a clue and hunting the next one down! I can't wait to plan another one!

(Walker and Grayson)

On of course a birthday party with snow on the ground means a snowball fight!
Walker my birthday is Dec. 29th and I can't remember EVER having snow on my birthday. What a blessing!
Hope you had an amazing birthday!

A valentine dinner

On Saturday, Feb. 13th we were invited to a Valentine Dinner!
Couples ONLY!
When we lived in Bullard we had fabulous neighbors who I miss very much.
And Megan and Trey were one of our fabulous neighbors who we have kept in touch with and who I call my best friend! I am sooooo blessed that God put them in our lives 5 years ago! I joke that Megan is really my long, lost sister because we are so much alike!

Y'all they went all out! The house was beautiful. The lights were dimmed and soft music playing in the background. It was gorgeous! And we had so much fun playing games and meeting the other couples!

Megan and Trey...
Thank you so much for inviting us!
It was absolutely perfect!

Griffin eating his way thru the snow!

This boy ate his way thru the snow!

At first he was very apprehensive. He didn't like it getting on him.

But very quickly, he decided that snow tasted good!
He would say, "Make me a snowball....palease!"
